A Sneaky Leprechaun and a Freebie

Has a leprechaun hit your classroom yet?! On Friday, one came into ours and made a MESS!

We had our traps set out and unfortunately, he didn't fall for them. We were working on our "How to Catch a Leprechaun" papers right before we left the room to go to Specials and those smart thinking kiddos decided we'd better turn them over since we don't want the leprechaun reading all about how we were going to trap him!

Here are the traps ready to go:

Here's some pictures of the aftermath:

Looking at that second picture now, he really could have made a "better" mess by taking apart the letters on the carpet too...next year! Haha!

When the students came back in they were all sorts of shocked! The immediately checked their traps and were disappointed. HOWEVER, then they began to notice that the sneaky leprechaun left gold hidden around the room. This cheered them up!

And then it began a chain reaction to notice other things the "leprechaun" did....

(Note: I did not do any of these things. There was actually no change to them. Haha!!!)

"My desk is cleaned!"
"My pencil is gone."
"The daily schedule has changed!"
"The calender wall looks different."
"My desk is cleaned too!"
"My eraser has been used."
"MY desk is messier!"

This continued for awhile, and then began....

"I see the leprechaun behind the cabinet!"
"He's in our backpacks!"
"Ms. Dunn, did you check inside your desk!?"
"He's GOT to be in our desks!"
"Look under the cabinets."
"Look in the center bins."
"Look in the trash!"

It certainly was a crazy afternoon, but the kiddos LOVED it!! I can't wait for next year. This *might* be my favorite holiday in the classroom because I get to have tons of fun with it! Last year, I painted green footprints all around the room, but couldn't find green paint in time to do it this year.

On to the freebie!! Have you tried the SCOOT game I left a few weeks ago?! My kiddos loved it and they want more! Soooo, that got me thinking that I can create ones for language arts, not just math. Why didn't I think of that before?!

So, of course, I had to get right to work on my idea for a language arts SCOOT game! Parts of speech SCOOTS!!!!!!

You can get it for FREE right here for 24 hours!!!!! (Or until I remember to delete it)

After that, you can purchase it for $1.50 here. ENJOY!
