Krazy About Kiddos: Leprechaun Traps!

I've been so busy with report cards and my personal life lately, I haven't been able to blog! I feel so behind on all my bloggy reading.

I have to start of by thanking Sheree from Peterson's Pad and Barbara at Grade ONEderful for the Lovely Blog awards! And Barbara gave me the Kreativ Blogger award too! Thank you!!

This week my kiddos have been working on leprechaun traps! I asked parents for donations of paper towel holders, newspaper, cups, plates, string, boxes, and other random stuff and the students were able to pick what they wanted to use to build their trap! Now, of course, I have to have a standard attached to this ...so while they were building their traps, they were also writing directions for how to build one.

They aren't quite finished with the decorating yet, but we plan on working on these next week too! Take a look at their ideas.

First, I read them this book which transitions perfectly into the activity!

This group has a sign for the leprechaun that says "Pull the string." When the string is pulled, the box flips over on him. Hahah!

Couldn't quite figure out the specifics of this one, other than there is a door in the cup for the leprechaun to go through, then they will close it on him. And the little pieces of foil are supposed to attract the little dude since he likes shiny things.

The foil on the back of this is supposed to attract the leprechaun to crawl inside and then they will attach the cup and trap him.

This group (I mean, I) cut a hole in a box and they are going to put shiny things inside to hopefully get him to fall in.

This one wins for creativity! You can't see it, but there is a box under the plate with a hole in it. The plate has a hole in it too. Then they placed the green paper to hide the hole and attract him to it and hopefully he'll fall inside. They also have a little note for him. The newspaper was supposed to be a slide for him to get out. :)
