Word Building and Sentence Building

Woohoo it's Thursday!!! First of all, that means Bones is on tonight and second of all, that means tomorrow is Friday! I am soooo exhausted this week.

One of the many reasons I love first grade is that I love phonics and phonemic awareness. Is that weird?! I just love building words and segmenting phonemes. Everything about it! So anyways, I figured I would show you how we do our "Word Work" or word building time in my class.

Here is my chart that I use to build the words along with the students

The students have their own letter cards too. They build the words right along with me. We use Trophies program for this as well. 

On a semi related note, yesterday I posted about sentence building and gave you resources for the high frequency words for the first book in our story. I wanted to show to what that looks like as a center in our classroom. Sorry, I couldn't get an angle where the light didn't reflect off of it.
